Houthulst Forest Attack

"Left the School in 1915, and soon obtained a commission in the 14th Gloucesters. He was one of the few officers in it who survived the attack on Houthulst Forest in the spring, but was killed while leading his men in a counter-attack on March 30th. Many letters bear witness to his popularity and gallantry in action. He had been recommended for the M.C." - July 1918
