Grant, Stuart

Son of Thomas Grant, chemist, and Sarah H of Glenest, 9 Carnarvon Road, Redland. Younger brother of Mary and Campbell. Older brother of Marjory, Ruth J and Olive P.

 

Grant was born on 12/05/1888, and attended the School from 1901-1904. He served as a Captain in the Army, with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment 2nd/5th Bn..  He was awarded the Military Cross. Grant sadly lost his life on 03/12/1917, as a result of the War.

 

Grant was awarded the Military Cross on 1st January 1918, Gazette issue 30450, page 37.

 

Grant is remembered on Cambrai Memorial, Louverval, France, Panel 3.

"Joined the ranks of the 6th Gloucesters in the first month of the war, and went to France a Srgeant iin 1915. He received his commission in November of the same year, and was gazetted to the Royal Warwicks and promoted Captain in July, 1917. He is now posted as killed in France on December 3rd."
