Son of William Albert Spring, bank manager, and Jessie Adeline Spring, of Station Road, Shirehampton. Older brother of Cecil James.

Spring was born on 04/04/1897, and attended the School from 1908-1910. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army, with the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 10th Bn. Spring sadly lost his life on 15/09/1916, as a result of the War.
